Happiness is a butterfly, which, when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp,
but which, if you sit down quietly, may alight upon you. ~

YogaSoles offers Slow Flow Vinyasa Yoga classes in the Maple Grove, MN area. Vinyasa yoga classes focus on releasing tension and stress, toning muscles, improving flexibility and balance, and breathing. Vinyasa, literally means, “to place in a special way”. In a vinyasa class, each yoga posture gently flows from one pose to the next, linking the movement with focused breath. Laurie teaches a slow-flow vinyasa class, moving slower and softer than a typical western vinyasa class. Slow
flow allows each student to flow thru a series of poses while at the same time, holding each pose longer to focus on alignment and breathing in the pose. This allows the student time to explore the pose and deepen their practice.
Laurie, a RYT-200 certified yoga instructor and psychology professor, blends her love of yoga with her extensive knowledge of psychology to create yoga classes that will not only benefit your body, but your mind as well. Laurie teaches class for all ability levels. The class environment is welcoming and non-judgemental!
Laurie’s teaching philosophy is based on the idea that work can also be fun. Her classes are centered around Patanjali’s statement in his famous Yoga Sutras (circa 400 BC-200 AD) “2.46 The posture (asana) for Yoga meditation should be steady, stable, and motionless, as well as comfortable.”
In other words, when practicing physical yoga poses, you should be still in body and mind, feeling balanced and painfree. Yoga shouldn’t hurt and Laurie offers a variety of modifications and props (blocks, straps, blankets) during class to make postures accessible to all levels of student. Laurie welcomes all levels of yoga students to her classes from, first time yoga students to experienced yogis. If you are looking for a fun, welcoming and non-judgmental place to practice yoga, YogaSoles is for you.
